May God lead Mar George Alanchery while he shepherd Syro Malabar Church. Dear Father, will this election result in undue influence of Changanachery Arch Diocese in Syro Malabar Church? Why is that each time the position of the head of SMC becomes vacant, Bishops who are from Thrissur Arch Diocese and its suffragans are neglected? Also is the Chaldeanisation problem going to come back and haunt us?

They are worse than politicans. Compared to them politicans are saints as they dont break the second commandment. Another way of selling Chaldeanisation under the title of Major Archbishop by electing the prince of Chaldeanisation.

Mar Pavathil might be celebrating. I the sinner feel sorry for those who worked hard to restore the crucifix in a lot of altars. Soon we will see the "Sleeva" resurrecting kicking the crucifix out .... and priest's back during holy mass.

What a world.

The new Major archbishop will have the trademark Manickeyan cross and will not say holy mass or bless churches without it.

There will be more priests locking the churches and walking away during Christmas and Easter if laity as they call insist to see crucific in the altar.

i think the election of mar givergeese alenchery as the head father of our particular church is gods greatest gift. it is not the time to search on how the election was done but unite under our major archbishop as a single family for there many serious problems to be discussed and find a solution in our particular church.be proud as a syro malabarian and keep our traditions in the whole world.

it is the work of god that made mar alenchery our new major archbishop.i think it is now the time to stop controversies over the election. it is the sin against holy spirit.this is the first time a preist, bishop who studied in our own seminary became our head. rejoice on that

Quite doubtful about the benefit to the Syro Malabar church. It is politically a big win for the Diocese of Changanacherry and Mar Pawathil. Please leave almighty from this. This man (His Eminence) was elected by a group of men who doesn’t listen fully to Sunday church goers.
Well I would agree that President Obama was chosen by a democratic process certainly through the will of God. And I don’t see any exception in this as well. He was so lucky to get elected by not taking into account of wishes of the church in Kerala as a whole. He is not a suitable man to lead the Syro Malabar church in the current climate.
I personally don’t agree with removal of crucifixes from the altar with the replacement of fancy so called Mar thoma cross (manickeyan), non-encouragement of rosary with evening prayers and the Holy mass without seeing the priest’s face.

Could you please clarify where in Bible it is written “it is a sin against Holy Spirit?” to discuss about the election of a mortal as Major Arch Bishop. Well if you seriously read New Testament our lord spoke against all these pomp and glory. Why Bishops live in palaces reminding of a man who was born 2000 years ago in a Manger. Have you seen any Bishop sleeping in the road side like a commoner? Well they are more privileged than our lord used to. Attitude like this damaged the church in Europe and still followed in Kerala church. Our lord walked on this earth. A Bishop cannot get out from his palace without his air conditioned car.

By the way mate. Mar Thoma Sleeva (manickeyan cross) was never our tradition. And so are the evening prayers (replacement of Rosary). Modified liturgy was neither our tradition.
These were the discovery of His Eminence the great Mar Pawathil with the support of the geniuses in the oriental congregation in Vatican. Well if Mar Katumana was alive he would have explained it well. Unfortunately he passes away while he was in Vatican (suspiciously) and had the same fate of His holiness John Paul the first.

Here i have seen some of the comments aganist Mar Thoma Sleeva .I think those who don't know anything about it speak like that.. because traditionally we were following it and due to latinisation Mar Thoma Sleeva removed from tradition. it is not simply a cross but we remember the presence of Holy Spirit through this sign .

With due respect. Please dont follow the teachings of some Bishops that claims; when St Thomas came to India he came with a baggage of so called sleeva. Mar Thoma sleeva is a scandal and it is the brain child of Mar Pawathil.

He is a good candidate for a great Borgea Bishop of Kerala with some exceptions in the history.

Yes I agree. People who need the Mar Thoma sleeva to remember holy spirit needs some real help.

I never seen any Christians making the statue of All mighty Father to remember him.
