St. Alphonsa - A Saint of All Times

Sufferings are part of human life. She accepted the suffereings not as crosses of life but joy of life that brings a person closer to God and Human persons in love. A person needs deep spirituality and conviction to take life as St. Alphonsa. It is a moment of joy as she is the first one from the Syro-Malabar Church and a woman saint of Indian Church. It is a recognition that the Universal Church gives to the 2000 years Syro-Malabar Church as one of her daughter is elavated for the Universal veneration.

Fr. (Dr.) Francis Eluvathingal - Bio-data

Born in 1970 at Chevoor in the Archeparchy of Trichur, opted for the Eparchy of Kalyan in 1989. Having completed Philosophy in Carmelgiri, Aluva and Theology in Papal Seminary, Puna, was ordained a priest in 1995. After a short period of pastoral ministry in Kalyan, began Canon Law studies in Rome in 1997, did a doctorate in Oriental Canon Law on Patriarchal Curia in the Eastern Canonical legislation (2002); and a diploma in Jurisprudence: Marriage and Family and another diploma in Specialisation: Ecclesiastical Administration, both from Holy Cross University, Rome. Served in parishes as parish priest and assistant parish priest, Chancellor, Judicial Vicar and PRO in the Eparchy of Kalyan. Now serves as Vicar General (Proto-Syncellus) for the Eparchy of SHAMSHABAD erected for the Syro-Malabar Migrant Catholics in India.

In Short:

Blessed to be part of a God fearing family, loved and cared by the Grand-parents, parents and other relatives and friends. Life in a small village not far from Trichur city allowed to have mixed values in life. While was in School, almost every year worked as the class leader and in the 10th Std was the School leader of St. Francis Xavier's High School, Chevoor (1984-85). During School life, was active in Kerala Catholic Students League (KCSL) and served as its Diocesan Executive committee member (1982-84) and later its President (1984-85) of Trichur diocese. Was active in Church choir and Altar Boys (1980-1985). Entered the Minor Seminary of Trichur on 21st June 1985 and while studying for the Eparchy of Trichur, the Eparchy of Kalyan was erected in 1988, and opted for the same in 1988 and started the ministry in Kalyan since May 1991 as first regency brother in Bishop’s House, Kalina and later in Powai.

My Commitment as a Catholic

I am a deeply loved son of God the Father; Brother and Friend of the Son Jesus Christ; and temple of the Holy Spirit.

I am a strong believer in God; A loyal Catholic who stands for the Catholic Doctrine; A faithful son of my Mother Syro-Malabar Church. God blessed me with vocation to priesthood and ordained me as His Priest for ever.

I believe in my existence being a member of a sui iuris Church, with the freedom to proclaim the Gospal in the whole world; to care for the SMC Catholics, scattered in the world, giving them all the pastoral support possible, strengthening them and encourging them through out, communcating them about their Mission to fulfil HIS Will.
